The most common food that most of the trekkers love to eat during lunch is Dal Bhat Set(veg or non-veg option).

  • Extensive Menu: Dal Bhat, pasta dishes (spaghetti, macaroni), momos (dumplings), spring rolls, pizza (basic versions), potato dishes (fried potatoes, hash browns), Sandwich, Pudding

Hydration & Snacks Between Meals

Water: Refilling stations, purification methods.

Water is essential during the trek to remain hydrated and to avoid the risk of altitude sickness. During the Annapurna base camp trek, trekkers can buy drinking water bottles from the small shops or the tea houses. Remember that the cost of water at high altitude is very expensive compared to lower altitudes due to a lack of transportation.

If you buy the water bottle, it will cost you around USD 1- 3 per 500ml bottle. Additionally, you can also find the water station where you can refill your water bottle. Refilling the water bottle from this water station is generally cheaper than buying, but these facilities may not be found everywhere on the trail. For those who want to drink the hot water, they can ask the tea house to boil the water for them by paying an extra cost.

You can also use the tap water to refill the water, but make sure to carry the water purification tablet with you.

Trail Snacks: Chocolates, Energy Bars, Dry fruits

If you have space in your luggage, you can also bring your favorite food items like instant noodles, nuts, or ready-to-eat meals for extra comfort on the trail. If not, don’t worry—you can buy most of these items in Kathmandu and even at some shops along the ABC trekking trail. You can find a variety of snack items at Kathmandu at affordable prices, but buying at the Annapurna region trekking trail is quite expensive.

Beverages: Energy drinks and soft drinks

Trekkers can also enjoy the variety of soft drinks like Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Dew, etc during trekking to ABC. Energy drinks like Redbull, Extreme, and Monster can be found in the tea house. These soft drinks and energy drinks can cost from 250-500. Additionally, you can find both local and international beverages at the tea houses. While we recommend avoiding alcohol during the trek for health and safety reasons, you can enjoy a drink to celebrate once you return from the base camp.
